BP Pakistan Exploration and Production Inc. Community Welfare

BP Pakistan (BPP) as a responsible corporate citizen is fully aware of its commitment to the local communities in the area of its operations. To fulfill this responsibility BPP undertakes community welfare programs in various disciplines according to the need and requirement of the area / people. The aim of these programs is to bring a positive change in the life of people. BPP has spent, to date, over US$ 4 million on community welfare schemes. A brief description of our contribution for the welfare of local population is given as under:

Education
In order to promote education in the backward areas of interior Sindh, BPP have been supporting programs in schools and colleges including construction of buildings, provision of furniture and equipment, transport facilities, teacher’s salary and the scholarships to needy and deserving students. We have given special attention to promote the education among female population and built degree & intermediate girls colleges besides high, middle and several primary schools.

Health
Under our community welfare program BPP supported programs to provide health care facilities to the local population. 20-bed Kario Hospital, several dispensaries and basic health centers have been constructed by BPP. Four ambulances, establishment of IC Unit at T.M. Khan Hospital, X-Ray plants, ECG machines have been provided to various government hospital and NGOs. Moreover, financial assistances to various NGOs for holding free eye camps are also provided on regular basis. One important feature is to provide anti-snake venom on regular basis.
Another important project undertaken by BPP to address drinking water shortage is installation of 800 hand pumps in various areas of Badin district. Keeping in view the benefits of this program we plan to continue this program.

Sports
Sports is one of many disciplines where BPP is actively involved. It encourages the sports activities in Badin and neighboring area by sponsoring sports events, and by building sports facilities like construction of Sports Complex at Badin and at Islamia College, Badin. BPP regularly sponsors Special Olympics in Sindh.

Infrastructure.
BPP has played a very important role in the development of infrastructure in Badin district. This includes 40 bridges, 966 culverts and 488 KM long road-network in Badin district.

Donations
BPP patronized many local and national level NGOs and extended financial help for their social welfare programs. The recipients include names such as LRBT, The Citizen Foundation, Shaukat Khanum Memeorial Trust, The Kidney Center, Al-Shifa Trust, Rotary Club, and Pakistan Association of Blinds etc.
